Mourning Dove is a beautiful solo piece for trombone and piano. It's a poetic sketch of mother and child and their unshakable bond. It is a continuous piece of contrasting sections and styles that represent the hope, love, struggle and triumph of a mother mourning dove helping and protecting her baby. The work is challenging but fun for both player and listener, and is well suited for performance alone or within a full recital.
