    Bordogni Complete Vocalises for tuba

Posted by Mark Nelson on 26th Sep 2020

I have used the Bordogni vocalises in multiple formats for over 40 years beginning with the Rochut/Bordogni trombone versions right out of high school. This is my second copy of the Wesley Jacobs book as I wore out the first one. It is simply the most comprehensive single volume edition of all 120 etudes available for tuba today. The spiral bound format makes it easy to lay flat any vocalise in the entire book and the size of the staff on premium paper makes it easy to read!

Bordogni in the tuba’s native transposition

Posted by David A. Goldfarb on 14th Mar 2018

I’ve come to the BBb tuba after many years of playing the trombone, and to start with, I’ve been working from the Carl Fischer trombone edition of the Bordogni/Rochut vocalises. After several months of this and other studies and easy pieces mostly from my trombone library, I realize I’ve gotten much more proficient at sight reading trombone music down an octave than reading music written in the tuba’s octave, so as far as I’ve checked, this edition seems to be the same as my trombone edition, written in the tuba’s octave. I know the tunes from years of practicing them on trombone, but now I can associate them with the tuba’s notes on the page when I’m practicing the tuba—just what I need right now.

    precious contents fragile container

Posted by Unknown on 23rd Oct 2017

Although I really appreciate Mr. Jacobs work about collecting and arranging this precious practice material I do not really understand why you used such low quality paper for this book. Paper is really thin and fragile. I would be happy to spend 5/10$ more for a more durable product. Please consider to improve this aspect for next reprinting. This is a nice and helpful mean of practice anyway. Thank you.

If you had to choose one method book - this would be the one

Clear notation, conveniently spiral bound, wonderful music. Although not completely error-free - the best presentation of these vocalises I've seen. All of my students buy this book.

The Jacobs/Bordogni book is fantastic. I have not found any errors, I love the spiral binding and clear print. This is the best single book ever for tuba players. I have all of my students get it and use it every day. Thank you, Encore.

I have played Bordogni and other legato stuff for years. This book is way better than anything else out there. Plus all 120 etudes in one book. I recommend it.
